Well, it is much lighter on your head than traditional beaver felted hats. That alone is a huge bonus, especially in the summer months. And alpca hats are more water resistant as well. You won't have to scramble for that plastic hat cover in a light drizzle. The water beads up on alpaca felted hats and easily rolls off with a simple shake. Alpaca fiber is one of the strongest natural fibers on earh, proven so in tensile testing, so that hat should last you a good, long time. And it is oh so soft and smooth to the touch. Alpaca comes in many natural shades, , including black, so no dying is necessary. Resistol hats come in colors of natural (offwhite/beige color), acorn and black. Talk about environmentally friendly and green! And for shaping, it is pliable enough that if you fit the hat so it is snug on your head in the front and back, then wear it around the house for a couple of hours, it will conform to your head and look very fashionable when you step out in public.
